A guide from Elicia Wilson Photography– Serving Moberly, Macon, Columbia, Eldon, Osage Beach and surrounding areas.
Alright, my fellow seniors, it’s time to talk props for your graduation photoshoot. Whether you’re a star athlete, a band geek, an art enthusiast, or already eyeing your future career, I’ve got the lowdown on the props that’ll make your session pop. Let’s make this photoshoot as memorable and Instagram-worthy as possible!
General Props for All Graduates
Cap and Gown: Duh, this one’s non-negotiable. You’ve earned it, so flaunt it. Bonus points for tossing the cap in the air (if the photographer’s cool with it).
Diploma or Certificate: Hold it like it’s your golden ticket to adulthood (because it kinda is).
School Memorabilia: Think varsity jackets, club insignias, or anything with your school logo. Show off that school spirit!
Books: Stack ’em up and look studious. Even if they’re just props, it’s the thought that counts.
Balloons or Confetti: Because you’re about to burst with excitement, right?
Props for Athletes
Sports Equipment: Bring your gear—basketball, football, soccer ball, whatever you dominate on the field or court.
Jersey or Uniform: Rock that jersey with your number on it. Flex those muscles, champ!
Medals or Trophies: Display your hard-earned bling. It’s not bragging if you earned it.
Water Bottle or Towel: Stay hydrated and look sporty doing it.
Props for Band Geeks (I say that with love!)
Instrument: Whether it’s a trumpet, saxophone, or a humble triangle, bring it. Bonus points for playing a celebratory tune.
Sheet Music: Hold it like you’re about to conduct an orchestra (even if your only audience is me).
Band Jacket or Hat: Show off that musical style.
Ear Plugs: Because let’s face it, band practices were LOUD.
Props for Artistic Souls
Paintbrushes and Palette: Channel your inner Picasso.
Sketchbook or Canvas: Show off your creative masterpieces.
Art Supplies: Pens, pencils, markers—whatever tools you used to create your magnum opus.
Beret or Artist’s Apron: Embrace the stereotype with a touch of flair.
Props for Future Career Enthusiasts
Briefcase or Laptop: Look like you mean business.
Stethoscope or Lab Coat: Doctor or scientist vibes, anyone?
Tool Belt or Hard Hat: For those future engineers or builders.
Final Tips
Keep It Personal: Choose props that represent YOU and your journey through high school.
Coordinate with Outfits: Props should complement your outfit choices, not clash with them.
Be Practical: Don’t bring props that are too cumbersome or difficult to manage. You want to look natural, not awkward.
Have Fun with It: This is your moment to shine, so don’t be afraid to show off a bit of your personality and sass.
Remember, these photos are a celebration of your achievements and the exciting future ahead. So, go forth, gather your props (max of 3), strike a pose, and let the camera capture your fabulousness. Congratulations, seniors—you’ve earned this spotlight!
