Frequently Asked questions

Frequently asked Questions

let's talk about

The good stuff

Where are you based?
I’m based in Jacksonville, Missouri, and photograph weddings and lifestyle sessions all across mid-Missouri. I grew up in Miller County (yep—small town life is in my blood), and now live in Randolph County with my family. Most of my work takes me up and down Highways 63 and 54, but if you're outside that zone—don't worry. I love to travel and will happily hop in the car for the right session. Just shoot me a message and we’ll make it work!

Do you have a studio?
Yes! I own Wilson & Co. Studio, located in Eldon, MO. It’s perfect for cozy, styled, or weatherproof sessions. Whether you’re after clean studio vibes, moody lighting, or something seasonal and fun—we can make it happen there. And of course, I still have a list of outdoor favorites too!

What type of sessions do you photograph?
I specialize in weddings and lifestyle photography—which includes everything from engagements and senior portraits to maternity, family sessions, and branding. If it’s part of your real, messy, beautiful life story, I probably photograph it.

What’s your style?
Candid, emotional, and true-to-life. I believe the best photos come when you're comfortable, so I help guide you with posing (yes, I’ll tell you what to do with your hands) while also stepping back to capture the real moments. When you look at your photos, I want you to remember exactly how that moment felt.

What kind of locations do you use?
That depends on your vibe! Want wildflowers in an open hayfield? You got it. Prefer an urban downtown alley, rustic barn, or cozy home setting? I’ve got ideas for all of it. I also LOVE when clients suggest meaningful spots—your family farm, favorite fishing dock, or that backroad where you had your first kiss? Yes, please.

When do you schedule sessions?
Outdoor sessions are best at sunrise or golden hour (1–2 hours before sunset)—because Missouri light just hits different during those times. I’ll work with your schedule but always recommend chasing that dreamy glow when we can.

Can I print my images myself?
Yes! All sessions include edited images, a print release, and digital download via Pixieset. You’ll also have the option to order professional-quality prints directly from your gallery if you want the easiest route.

How long does my session last?
A full session runs around 45–60 minutes, while mini sessions are quick and sweet—usually 10–20 minutes.

What if the weather is bad?
Clouds? No problem. Rain, sleet, snow, or hail? We’ll reschedule. I leave buffer space in my calendar to account for Missouri’s unpredictable weather, and I’ll always reach out with a backup plan if needed.

When will my photos be ready?
You’ll get a sneak peek within 72 hours, because I know you're dying to see something (and honestly—I am too). Full galleries are usually delivered in 4 weeks, depending on the season. If anything delays that timeline, I’ll keep you in the loop.

What should we wear to our session?
Start with something you feel good in—confidence always photographs well! Neutrals, earth tones, and layers usually work great, especially outdoors. Once you book, I’ll send a prep guide to help you plan outfits, coordinate colors (not matchy-matchy!), and avoid anything that might distract from the emotion in your photos.

Do you help with posing? We’re awkward in front of the camera.
Yes, yes, yes—and same! You don't have to know what to do with your hands. I guide you through natural prompts and movements to get those candid, real-moment images you see in my work. My sessions are relaxed, fun, and never stiff.

How do I book a session with you?
Head to https://eliciawilson.com, find these type you are looking for, click “Book a Session." You’ll fill out a short form, sign a contract, and pay the booking fee to lock in your date. Easy peasy.

Do you photograph extended families or blended families?
Absolutely! Big families, stepfamilies, chosen families—I’ve seen it all and love every version. I’ll help make sure everyone feels included and seen. Just give me a heads-up so we can plan extra time and structure the session well.

Can we bring pets to the session?
YES. Fur babies are always welcome. Just bring a leash, some treats, and maybe a buddy to hold them when they’re not in the shot. I’m all for making your session personal!

Will I get both color and black & white images?
Most galleries include a mix! If a photo begs to be in black and white (hello, emotional moment), I’ll include both versions. I don’t just slap on a filter—each one is intentionally edited.

Why should I choose you as my photographer?
Because you’re not just hiring someone to take pictures—you’re choosing someone to *tell your story*. I bring a mix of experience, heart, and hustle to every session. I grew up in small-town Missouri, raised on hard work and honesty, and I approach your session the same way—down to earth, intentional, and with a whole lot of heart.

What makes your approach different from other photographers?
I don’t just show up and click the shutter—I build real connection, help you feel like yourself, and capture all the messy, beautiful in-between moments. You’ll never feel rushed or overly posed. I want you to walk away saying, “That was actually fun.”

Do you retouch photos (like blemishes, etc.)?
Yep! I lightly retouch things like blemishes, flyaways, and distractions without making you look airbrushed. You’ll still look like *you*, just your best-lit, most confident version.

Can I order an album or prints through you?
You sure can. Every session comes with a digital gallery and built-in print shop where you can order professional-quality prints, canvases, and albums shipped straight to your door.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my session?
Life happens—I get it. If you need to reschedule, just reach out as soon as you can. I build in wiggle room for things like sick kiddos or wild Missouri weather. Booking fees are non-refundable, but I’m happy to work with you to find a new date if needed.
